Cotton Tree Beach

The seaside suburb view of Cotton Tree is perfect for family adventures. Along its coastal beach, you can enjoy its playground popular for play, picnic and riverside barbecue facilities. It is located right on the Maroochy River’s beach banks, full of popular attractions you can easily access.

Cotton Tree is home to an impressive range of watersport activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, kite surfing, and sailing. The river near Cotton Tree Holiday Park also provides the angler with an all-year-round perfect for catching various fishes. An amazing beach to create new memories.

Sand Bags at Cotton Tree

A controversial issue that divides many locals is the sand bags that have been placed to stop longshore drift at Cotton Tree. These also provide a shelter to the waves and a playground for families with small children. It arguable has created the Sunshine Coast’s best place for people of all ages to learn to surf with its long 200m rides on a good day with the right weather conditions.

The sand is constantly shifting and at certain times of the year it creates sandy swimming pools with little crossings between each of the sand bags which has kids in a frenzy for hours at end.

River walk at Cotton Tree

A popular runners/walkers spot is the foreshore along the river banks of the Maroochy River. For those prepared to go that little bit further, you can head North West past Chambers Island and venture inland towards Bli Bli.

Cotton Tree park facilities

The Cotton Tree park has facilities like swimming pool, basketball court, table tennis, kids playground, Gym equipment and river walk. You’ll often find yoga practise, paddle board lessons and various training groups meeting in the early hours of the morning.

So many coffee shops including our favourite, The Boat Shed with a kids climbing tree right out the front.
